ABOUT

ME

My upbringing was literally full of music. My mum and grandmother were both accomplished musicians. My mum taught violin, singing and piano at home and at school.  My dad also played the cello to a good standard with my siblings collectively learning piano/violin/cello,  with my brother ending up being a highly experienced composer and teacher.

Music and the piano has played a huge role in my life. Our family house was continually filled with either sounds of me and my siblings endlessly practicing our instruments, or my dad and brother listening intricately to classical music LPs..(heaven forbid if this was interrupted).

Christmas carols were sung on the Big Day, with our own orchestra, with my mum accompanying us all on the piano for several hours until we’d managed to sing virtually every carol we could ever think of.

During my early adulthood I was unsure how much I wanted to use my music talent,  but personal circumstances got me to a point where I needed to work at home with my then very young children.

It was my mum who suggested teaching piano and singing from home.  I started off with one or two students.  This rapidly led to more and more children and adults from my village and surrounding areas.  I was impressed at how easy word of mouth got around.  It seemed there were many parents out there who would like their children to be musical and play an instrument,  maybe because they’d never had the opportunity to learn themselves.

Needless to say my girls, (now all grown up),  are talented musicians in their own right, they are now also at a standard of grade 8 and beyond in singing,  piano and flute.  Both being able to turn to teaching in their respective instruments, in class and at home,  at any time in their lives.

I believe that music is much more than a bunch of notes strung together — it is a powerful force that can affect our emotions and senses, which can transport us to other times and places.

It has the power to heal, to mend, encourage and to energise.  Join me on a musical adventure to begin your very own journey of learning and growing as a musician.

Also a website run by my brother,  who composes his own music, also has his own music publishing company:
